Conventional gutter installations currently include driving spikes, nails, or screws through the back of the aluminum gutter. These practices do not allow for expansion and contraction due to changes in the weather. Temperature fluctuations cause the gutter to pull on the spike or nail therefore putting tension on the gutter and causing it to open up or separate from the fascia. Moisture builds up behind the gutter from the nail holes and or the separation causing fascia board rot. Once the board is rotted, the gutter pulls away from the house, sags, and eventually falls.
